“In my work, I explore the complexity of the future, of the socio-political and cultural identity of Africa in the era of globalization. I wonder about the issues of the fragility and danger brought by the current globalization through technologies which seems to be a one sided benefit of multinational corporations at the expense of the third world, changing itself as a metaphor from political colonialism to the economical one.”
Biography
Steve Bandoma was born in 1981 in Kinshasa. After graduating with a degree in Fine Art from Academies des Beaux-Arts, he moved to South Africa in 2005.
Bandoma has participated in numerous group exhibitions both locally and internationally. He had his first solo exhibition at Alliance Française of Cape Town in 2008 and won several arts awards including the Art Buzz 2009 Book Collection with “Honourable Mention” in USA. Currently, Bandoma is managing a help desk project at AFAI (African Arts Institute). |
