"In the current reality of mass migration, my project, Citenge Interstate, explores my personal conflicts as a recent African migrant to Europe in the process of repatriating back to Africa. When a person dies without leaving behind a last will and testimony, his estate can be said to be in interstate, and in Zambian traditional law the estate remains in interstate until the wisdom of the clan appoints an administrator. This can be viewed as an analogy for the visual component of this project, which signifies the cultural death that occurs in the reality of migration, and the birth of a new tribe in the inevitability of ethnic reassignment."
