Biography
Jean Christophe Lanquetin, born 1963, lives and works in Paris and overseas, especially in several cities on the African continent and more recently also in Salvador de Bahia, Delhi.
He is currently working as scenographer with the directors Philip Boulay & Guy Régis Junior, the choreographer Opiyo Okach, the performer Nastio Mosquit and others. He also worked with the choreographers Augusto Cuvilas and Faustin
Linyekula and developed projects like the Eyala Pena itinerant theatre (Douala 2000).
As artist he is developing a project about «sape» in Kinshasa which was exhibited in Berne, Kinshasa and Johannesburg and recently published in «African cities reader» (Chimurenga magazine).
With Francois Duconseille, he is co-founder of ScU2, the « Urban Scénos » collective, which produced and curated four residencies since 2000, in collaboration with The Kapsiki Circle in Douala, Eza Possibles in Kinshasa, Gudran in Alexandria and The Joubert Park Project in Johannesburg. ScU2 is currently developing an international residency process in Paris/Belleville and preparing the project «a virtual residency in Belleville» for Livraison 14.
Jean Christophe Lanquetin is teaching scenography at the Decorative School of Art in Strasburg.
