"Participating in FOCUS10 as a member of the Curatorial Board is to continue in one of my long-term interests: the questioning of contemporary art in a socially, geographically and first and foremost culturally globalized world."

Biography
François Duconseille was born in 1958, somewhere in France. Since 2000, he works with Jean-Christophe Lanquetin in ScU2, the Urban Scenography’s project: artistics residencies in specific areas of big cities (Douala, Kinshasa, Alexandria, Johannesburg, etc), co-realised with local artistic collectives (Kapsiki Circle, Eza Possibles, Gudran, Joubert Park Project).
Urban Scenographies is motivated by interrogating the complexities and changes of contemporary cities as well as the dependencies and differences between countries in the south and north. The impulse to interrogate and understand these complexities needs to be refreshed and tested within the daily practices of a given place – by living and working within the place, building relations with the local communities and sharing experiences.
He follows his own artistic activities as visual artist and scenographist, while also teaching scenography in Strasbourg’s Ecole Supérieure des Arts Décoratifs.
